Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and helps people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education, awareness and advice.
When Is Physiotherapy Beneficial?
Physiotherapists works with people of all ages to enable they to maintain health, manage pain and prevent disease.
Using their knowledge and skills they can work with a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as:
- Neurological (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s)
- Neuromusculoskeletal (back pain, whiplash associated disorder, sports injuries, arthritis)
- Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehabilitation after heart attack)
- Respiratory (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis).
They can help with difficulties arising from sudden injury, managing long-term medical conditions and in coping with excessive strains on the body such as preparing for childbirth or a sporting event.
