Massage Therapy

Massage is one of the world’s oldest physical therapies. A massage therapist will work with you to identify tight or sore areas of your body that are causing discomfort or pain.

They will seek to relieve these areas by massaging the body’s soft tissues using different stroke techniques and pressure strengths.

How Massage Therapy Can Be Beneficial

Massage therapy can be beneficial and can assist with relaxation, stress management, muscular discomfort, injuries (both old and new), alongside lifestyle related issues (ie. bad posture). For the latest research on the benefits of massage do take a look at The National Centre for Complimentary and Integrative Health website.

Massage therapies take different forms including Sports massage, Remedial massage (deep & soft tissue), Swedish massage, Aromatherapy (use of essential oils), Indian Head massage and Hot Stone massage.

What to expect ?

Your massage therapist will ask you to complete a health screening  questionnaire before or during your first massage session to see if massage is right for you. They will ask you what you hope to get out of the session and will adapt you massage (and any aromatherapy oils if relevant)  according to your needs. Do let them know what level of  pressure you prefer as we are all different.

Your might feel lovely and relaxed, that your muscular tension has eased and your body feels more aligned . These are some of the great  benefits of massage.

As you go on your way, do try to keep hydrated,  to help flush out any toxins in your body and it makes sense to take it easy for a while.
